Artist Statement

I love drawing. Working with digital and traditional drawing techniques, I try to create figurative images that have a playful introspection to them, narratives that suggest notions of being with the viewer, immersive emotional atmospheres, or small truths that can be shared visually. I get a lot of satisfaction from putting pencil to paper, pen to tablet or arranging objects to create lines that move and can tell a tale. I get lost and found again in the making and remaking of things, the merging of ideas and different patterns. I find it fascinating seeing how all the different parts, the broken shards of things, fit together again into something slightly altered from what they were before because my hand has been there. Drawing for me, is like discovering something extraordinary within the ordinary, the beginning lines of a story you didn't realise exsisted that slowly emerge into a narrative all of thier own, something you hadn't imagined before you began.
